Colin Firth allegedly got so drunk after winning his second BAFTA for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his portrayal of King George VI in ‘The King’s Speech’ that he lost the award after the ceremony, the Daily Star is reporting. The 50-year-old actor, who first won the BAFTA in 2009 for his role of George Falconer in ‘A Single Man,’ drank so much champagne at the after-party that he left the statue at the bar and went home.

When Firth remembered he left the award, he reportedly sent someone back to the bar to pick it up for him. The Academy Award contender told the Daily Star after he won the BAFTA that “It feels amazing to win awards, but tomorrow I’ll be back down to earth…I might as well make the most of it tonight.”

Firth reportedly partied with his ‘King’s Speech’ co-star Helena Bonham Carter, who won the BAFTA for Best Actress in a Supporting Role, for her portrayal of George’s wife Elizabeth. Her partner, director Tim Burton, was also in attendance.
