After the new internet trailer for “Dead Island” surprisingly garnered attention and popularity this week, the video game received more good news when veteran producer Sean Daniel announced he has picked up the rights via his Sean Daniel Company, http://www.slashfilm.com is reporting. Daniel, who is known for producing such movies as ‘The Mummy’ and ‘The Wolfman,’ is possibly looking to make a movie based on the as-of-yet released game, but no official announcement has been made yet.

Even though there isn’t a script, or even a screenwriter on board for the potential “Dead Island” movie, Daniel felt it was the best time to buy the rights, as the public was just reminded that the video game is still going to be released. Since so many video game fans responded so well to the trailer, Daniel may treat it as a short film he can expand into a feature.

Polish video game developer Techland is expected to release the video game version of “Dead Island” later this year. The purpose of the game is to kill as many zombies as possible with melee combat.
