Saturday, February 26th, 2011

Actor David Krumholtz, who last appeared as a series regular on CBS’ ‘Numb3rs,’ has been cast as a series regular in NBC’s new drama pilot ‘Playboy,’ www.tvline.com is reporting. He is set to portray the general manager at the Playboy Club in Chicago in 1963, and the character is being described as “a young Albert Brooks-esque bottom-line kind of guy.” The news comes after ‘Drive Angry’s Amber Heard, Naturi Naughton of ‘Fame’ and Laura Benanti of ABC’s former drama ‘Eli Stone’ were all confirmed to appear as Playboy bunnies in the series. ‘Playboy’ isn’t Krumholtz’s only reentry back into television; he is also currently developing the half-hour, single-camera comedy ‘Igotchaback’…

Friday, February 25th, 2011

Well, I offer you something a little different; not who I think will win, but who I think should win. Best Picture: The King’s Speech Every Best Picture nominee achieves some degree of filmmaking prowess, otherwise, they wouldn’t be nominated in the first place. Rather than pick apart the elements and compare the contenders by the writing, directing acting, etc., this category comes down to something far simpler, yet something tougher to achieve – poignancy. Which of…

Jimmi Simpson

Jimmi Simpson joins Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

Friday, February 25th, 2011

Jimmi Simpson has been signed onto the Tim Burton-directed film “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter”, according to Screen Crave by way of Variety. The actor will play Josh Speed, Lincoln’s close friend and personal assistant. Historically, this is accurate. What isn’t accurate is, of course, the vampire parts: in the film, Speed will fight with Lincoln, played by Benjamin Walker, and kill vampires. The film, based on a book by Seth Grahame-Smith, chronicles Lincoln’s “true” life, in which he goes on a rampage against vampire-kind after a creature, presumably a vampire, kills his mother. Aside from going after vampires, Lincoln also fights the vampire’s ally, slave-owners. Wouldn’t it be ridiculous if if…

Kathleen Parker and Parker Spitzer

Kathleen Parker leaves Parker Spitzer

Friday, February 25th, 2011

For our CNN viewers, you may be interested in learning that Kathleen Parker, one half of the news duo “Parker Spitzer” has left the show, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Parker leaves after months of dwindling ratings and rumors of contention between Parker and her host, former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer. Two months earlier, The Wall Street Journal reported that CNN was considering replacing Parker. However, it should be noted that the show was never a big success to begin with, what with it being a weird mix of “hard” news and infotainment-verging on-rom/com stylings. This blogger is an avid CNN watcher, and after watching some of the show,…
