Just this weekend, it was reported by various sources that Joseph Gordon Levitt is, in fact, going to be in the next “Batman” film, “The Dark Knight Rises.” In those various reports, it was stated that he was going to play Alberto Falcone, a.k.a. “The Holiday Killer”. However, that bit of news is false.

Contrary to popular belief, Entertainment Weekly has uncovered that while Gordon Levitt will be in the movie, he will not be playing The Holiday Killer. In fact, his role in the film is still unknown. So, for those of you still hoping for JGL as The Riddler, your hopes are still alive!

Gordon Levitt has become one of Christopher Nolan’s key film players, having starred in the highly successful film, “Inception”. Gordon Levitt isn’t the only “Inception” star who’s coming to Gotham City; Tom Hardy will be playing Bane and Marion Cotillard has been cast, her role not yet known.

The film, also starring Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Michael Caine as Afred, Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox, and, of course, Christian Bale as Batman/Bruce Wayne, “The Dark Knight Rises” will be out in theaters July 20, 2012.

Who do you think Gordon Levitt will play in the film? Give your opinions below.

  1. I think he is going to play Ra's Al Ghul. I don't thing he died at the end of Batman Begins, he probably was just severely injured. In the comics Ra's Al Ghul is immortal, he uses Lazarus pits to heal his injuries and it also makes him young again. That would make since considering all the rumors that the League of Shadows is supposed to play a major part in the next movie. Joseph Gordon-Levitt even looks like he could be a young Liam Neeson
