According to various sources including Entertainment Weekly, Chris Brown has released a statement apologizing for his outburst at “Good Morning America” yesterday.
The apology occurred on BET’s “106 and Park”. “First of all, I want to apologize to anyone who was startled in the office, or anybody who was offended or really looked, and [was] disappointed in my actions,…because I’m disappointed in my actions.” Brown said. Video of the apology is below.
He stated that he acted out merely to blow off steam concerning a question Robin Roberts asked him about the restraining order Rihanna had against him due to the 2009 assault. After the interview, Brown threw a cooler, busted a window, and eventually stormed out of the building. On the street, Brown was seen without his shirt, which he had pulled off sometime during the emotional episode.
Brown claims that he was blindsided by the questioning, stating on “106″ that he thought ABC had given him certain talking points–centered around his new album, “F.A.M.E.”–simply to get him on the show to talk about his past. But Roberts has alluded to the idea that Brown had been highly aware of the tone of questioning–she suggested that he would talk about his past on the show.
Since the incident, Roberts and the “GMA” team have invited Brown back to the show. Time will tell if he’ll take Roberts up on that offer.
As an aside, “F.A.M.E.”, has been at number one on iTunes.
