Paramount Film Group president Adam Goodman approached Rosenberg, who will also produce the movie, with the idea to adapt Earthseed, and he will oversee the project. She agreed to the adaptation, saying “It really talks about the debate of nature vs. nurture, what is innately human and what can be bred in or out of someone.” The novel is set in the future, and follows people who launch a project called Ship into space to find a new planet for humans to live on.

Rosenberg also agreed to work on ‘Earthseed’ because she wants Tall Girls to create “great, strong roles for women, but in…high-concept movies.” She added that she also wants to create “interesting, intriguing, complex roles…That is definitely this book.”
