Will Smith

Uptown Saturday Night being remade

Friday, March 25th, 2011

According to CinemaBlend, “Uptown Saturday Night” is being remade at the behest and will of Will Smith. Smith originally got the rights to the 1974 film starring Sidney Poitier and Bill Cosby in 2002, and the script was being written by “Cop Out” writers Mark and Robb Cullen. At one point, Denzel Washington was rumored to be attached to the project. But that was a year ago. Since then, the Cullens have since been replaced by Tim Dowling. The rumor’s still out that Smith (who will also be producing the film through his company Overbrook Entertainment) and Washington will star in the remake, but again, it’s still a rumor. A…

The Lincoln Lawyer

The Lincoln Lawyer Movie Review

Friday, March 25th, 2011

Title: The Lincoln Lawyer Director: Brad Furman Starring: Matthew McConaughey, Marissa Tomei, Ryan Phillippe, William H. Macy, John Leguziamo While novels often captivate readers for allowing them to use their imaginations to picture how a story unfolds, their movie adaptations often pale in comparison. Readers are often disappointed by the director and screenwriters’ visions of how the plot-line should play out, and what the characters and settings look like. But one adaptation that breaks free from that stereotype is director Brad Furman’s screen version of author Michael Connelly’s crime novel The Lincoln Lawyer. The legal drama exceeds expectations by not only focusing on the book’s important theme of trusting your…

Friday, March 25th, 2011

More news concerning Chris Brown–Entertainment Weekly reports that Brown’s publicist, Tammy Brook, has parted ways with the singer. Her reason for leaving doesn’t have anything to do with Brown’s “GMA” meltdown, according to Brook; her contract was simply up. Sucker Punch Movie Review

Friday, March 25th, 2011

Title: Sucker Punch Directed By: Zack Snyder Starring: Emily Browning, Abbie Cornish, Jena Malone, Vanessa Hudgens, Jamie Chung, Carla Gugino, Oscar Isaac, Jon Hamm, Scott Glenn High expectations can be a killer. Unfortunately for director Zack Snyder, he works extra hard to insert an insanely high outlook into every single thing that he does and lately, it seems to backfire big time. His brain is geared towards directing and visuals and that doesn’t serve him well as a writer. Whereas the basic concept of Sucker Punch combined with Snyder’s keen eye for the visually incredible had immense prospects, it diluted the script. Spectacular imagery without a sensible and engaging story…
