Giveaway Winner: Expanded Edition for Pearl Jam's VS.

Tuesday, March 29th, 2011

We are drawing to a close on the contest to win an expanded edition of Pearl Jam’s legendary album, “VS.” The three-CD Pearl Jam set commemorates the band’s 20th anniversary and one lucky winner is now the owner of this celebratory edition. We left this contest pretty open, since it is a bit difficult to ask a specific question of a band that has had such a vast impact on the world of music. You had the opportunity to tell us why you think Pearl Jam’s album, “VS.”, garnered such success. We read those responses thoroughly and thought J.A.’s response hit the nail on the head. Cliché, but the expression…

Justice League of America

Justice League of America movie still in the works

Tuesday, March 29th, 2011

In the same L.A. Times interview with Warner Brothers exec Jeff Robinov that revealed the news about the Batman reboot, it was revealed that the long-awaited “Justice League of America” film is still in the works, as well as a few other films. The “Justice League” film, which was stalled by the writers strike, having to iron out any conflicting versions of Batman shown in the Christopher Nolan films and contending with tax credit issues in Australia, is set to be one of the WB movies on tap for 2013 and beyond. Finally, we will see what all of the DC superheroes look like when they’re all together on the…

The film, which was written and directed by Burns and will have its world premiere at the TFF, chronicles modern marriage. Shot almost entirely in the TriBeCa neighborhood of New York City, ‘Newlyweds’ shows that when you get married, you get your spouse’s entire life. ‘Newlyweds’ follows a newly married couple whose honeymoon is interrupted by the husband’s wild younger sister, as well as the wife’s sister, whose own marriage is falling apart. Burns stars in the movie with Caitlin Fitzgerald, Max Baker, Marsha Dietlein Bennett…

Miss Marple

Miss Marple reboot in the works

Tuesday, March 29th, 2011

More reboot news to report–and like a lot of reboot news, it might make you irritated, sad, and confused. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jennifer Garner and Disney have acquired the rights to “Miss Marple”, a beloved property. Disney and Garner, who will produce, plan on recreating Marple with an edge, per se. According to the article, Marple will not only be a bit edgier, but she’ll also be younger. The edginess is supposedly probably in the works for the contemporary adaptation due to the addition of Mark Frost as the screenwriter. While he is responsible for the “Fantastic Four” movies, his original claim to fame is co-creating the cult…

Dark Knight Rises

Batman to be rebooted after The Dark Knight Rises

Tuesday, March 29th, 2011

In “Why more reboots?!” news, CinemaBlend is reporting that the Batman franchise will be rebooted after the release of the third Christopher Nolan-verse Batman film, “The Dark Knight Rises”. According to the Warner Brothers executive Jeff Robinov in an interview with the L.A. Times, “We have the third Batman, but then we’ll have to reinvent Batman… Chris Nolan and [wife and producing partner] Emma Thomas will be producing it, so it will be a conversation with them about what the next phase is.” As a longtime Batman fan, I’ve been thrilled with the Nolan-verse Batman films (yes, I’m one of those people who figuratively bows down to Heath Ledger’s Joker)….

Teresa Palmer

Teresa Palmer in talks to star in zombie romance film

Tuesday, March 29th, 2011

Zombies are now getting the “Twilight” treatment, and I’m not sure how to feel about this! According to The Hollywood Reporter, “I Am Number Four” actress Teresa Palmer is currently in talks to star in a zombie romance film, “Warm Bodies”. The film is being described as “Twilight” meets “Shaun of the Dead”. If she’s signed on, Palmer will be starring opposite one of the it-boys of this year, Nicholas Hoult (“X-Men: First Class”). The film will center around an, according to the article, “existentially tormented zombie” who goes by the name of R. He befriends a girl who also happens to be the girlfriend of one of R’s victims….

Jack Ryan

Chris Pine's Jack Ryan Reboot Slow in Development

Tuesday, March 29th, 2011

After the success Chris Pine saw in 2009′s ‘Star Trek,’ Paramount decided to feature him in a rebooted movie featuring author Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan character. But the reboot, tentatively titled ‘Moscow,’ is still in development, and may be pushed back again so that Paramount can instead focus on the ‘Star Trek’ sequel, Slashfilm.com is reporting. The distribution company is now hoping to start filming ‘Star Trek 2′ in fall 2011. Production on ‘Moscow’ has reportedly stalled because screenwriter Steve Zaillian, who worked on previous Jack Ryan movies, ‘Patriot Games’ and ‘Clear and Present Danger,’ has pulled out. Director Jack Bender, who is currently attached to the project, is also…

Christian Slater is continuing to resurrect his career by appearing in his third television series in as many years, FOX’s ‘Breaking In,’ Sony Pictures has confirmed. The studio’s new half-hour comedy follows a high-tech security firm, Contra Security, that takes extreme measures to obtain clients. A team of highly skilled geniuses, working for a manipulative mastermind, does whatever it takes to sell its protection services. Slater plays Oz, the leader of Contra Security, who has his team take away potential clients’ sense of security so that they feel the need to hire the firm. The rest of the team includes Melanie, played by Odette Yustman, who’s in charge of picking…

Scream 4, Image 1

Scream 4 Soundtrack Available To Pre-Order

Tuesday, March 29th, 2011

With two more weeks to go until Ghostface makes his return to the big screen, the promotional material continues to pour in. Not only do we have four new photos, but information on the Scream 4 soundtrack, too. First up, the stills. Clearly there’s going to be some romantic tension between Rory Culkin and Hayden Panettiere’s character or perhaps just a little teasing on Panettiere’s part as Culkin looks a little more in-the-moment in this first image. Second we’ve got a shot of Courteney Cox looking as though she’s attempting to evade the killer in that barn scene. There’s also a shot of Emma Roberts and Scream 4‘s Billy Loomis…
