Moviehole and CinemaBlend now have the poster for Jim Carrey’s newest family-friendly comedy, “Mr. Popper’s Pengins”. The poster is pretty standard–it shows Carrey’s face with a couple of penguins framing him–but it’s oddly nostalgic, if you want to call the ’90s “nostalgic” (which is weird, since I grew up in the ’90s).

The poster feels like the Good Ole Days, when family-friendly films were gentle and surprisingly entertaining. Clean, I guess. I’m not saying that family-friendly films are clean today, but this poster makes the movie seem like it’s “nostalgic-clean”, if that makes any sense. Hopefully it does.

In any case, “Mr. Popper’s Penguins” is based on the children’s book written by Florence and Richard Atwater. The film is a little different from the book: instead of Mr. Popper being sent a penguin and turning the penguins into a performing troupe in order to give more meaning to his life, Mr. Popper (Carrey) inherits six penguins. After he turns his apartment into a snowy, icy home for his penguins, his professional career begins to unwind.

Below the article is the poster for the film. What do you think about this film? Does it feel nostalgic to you? Sound off below in the comments section.
