Following in the lead of other actors who have appeared in Judd Apatow movies and later wrote screenplays, ‘Knocked Up’ star Jay Baruchel is scripting the upcoming film adaptations of ‘Random Acts of Violence’ and ‘Exorcism Diaries,’ Collider is reporting. After writing the recently filmed hockey comedy ‘Goon’ with Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, Baruchel has signed onto pen the two upcoming films with his writing partner, Jesse Chabot.

‘Random Acts of Violence’ will be based on the comic book name of the same name. The Kickstart Comic story, which was created by Jonah Hex creators Jimmy Palmiotti and Justing Gray, follows two comic creators, Ezra and Todd, as their horror character Slasherman has veered off the path they created for him. Ezra and Todd are happy at first that their first published work has become successful. However, they soon become horrified when fans start dying in the middle of their signing tour.

Baruchel and Chabot are in final negotiations with Summit to write ‘Exorcism Diaries.’ The movie will be based on Mark Opasnick’s book “The Real Story Behind the Exorcist”. The novel follows a reporter who searches for the truth behind the case in ‘The Exorcist,’ but she soon discovers that the real supernatural entity shown in the classic film is now chasing her.
