Arnold Schwarzenegger has announced that he and his wife of 25 years, Maria Shriver, are separating, FOXNews is reporting. The actor and former California governor confirmed the separation through a statement issued by Daniel Ketchell, one of his spokesman.
In the statement, Schwarzenegger also said that he and Shriver, a former broadcast journalist for CBS and NBC, are working on their relationship while living apart. They also want to continue to care for their four children together.
The two also said that “This has been a time of great personal and professional transition for each of us.” They added that they came to the decision together after a “great deal of thought, reflection, discussion and prayer.”
Several key points of the separation, including who would remain in their Brentwood estate and who was granted physical custody of the children, weren’t publicly released. The news comes after Shriver’s father, Peace Corps founder Sargent Shriver, died in January.
