According to Entertainment Weekly, Matthew Modine has joined the cast of “The Dark Knight Rises”. The site/magazine confirmed the actor’s involvement in the film, and claims a report in Variety states that Modine’s character may be named “Nixon”. Modine’s representatives couldn’t confirm or deny that information, so for now, that bit of info will have to be regulated to the “rumor mill” pile.

Aside from Modine’s casting, “Ramona and Beezus” actress Joey King and Tom Conti have also been cast in the film.

I’m not going to make any speculation as to who Modine could be, let alone what roles King and Conti could have in the film. I can’t think of anyone from the comics that fit the bill for the two actors and kid actress, but all I can expect is for their roles to be heavily integral to what I’m expecting will be a tightly-woven plot.

“The Dark Knight Rises”, which is starring Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman, will be released to theaters July 20, 2012.

Who do you think Modine, Conti, and King could be in the film? Give your opinions in the comment section below.
