According to The Hollywood Reporter, the E! Network will undergo what NBC Universal Cable Entertainment Chairwoman Bonnie Hammer is calling a “brand audit” in order to restructure and redirect the network in a more upscale direction.

According to the interview The Hollywood Reporter did with Hammer, the network’s “audit” will undergo something similar to what her USA Network did seven years ago. “I would say that E! is a wide open book right now in terms of where to go,” she said. “E! is very successful right now; it’s not broken in any way, shape or form. But the goal is to do to E! what we did to USA over the past seven years: take it from a successful channel and have it just completely break out.”

Hammer said she plans to expand E!, which is more well known for its reality programming (particularly those Kardashians) and turn the network into a “broad, upscale, fresh” network with more scripted-based programming over the next two to three years. “I say there are a lot of possibilities in terms of where we can go,” she said.
