Clarence Clemons, who rose to fame as the saxophonist in Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band, has suffered a stroke, E!Online is reporting. The 69-year-old musician was reportedly seriously ill at his Florida home during the evening of June 12, 2012. However, there have no additional reports about his current condition or the severity of the stroke.
Springsteen’s reps have yet to comment on Clemons’ condition. The two last played together in December 2010 at Asbury Park’s Carousel House.
Clemons more recently performed with Lady Gaga in May 2011 during the ‘American Idol’ season 10 finale. He also appears on her new single ‘Edge of Glory.’ The news comes after Clemons canceled a scheduled performance at Game Two of the NBA Finals, where he was going to perform the national anthem. He backed out because he suffered a hand injury.
