The movie rights to ‘The Best of Me’, the upcoming novel by Nicholas Sparks, have already been acquired by Warner Bro., even though the book isn’t scheduled to be released until October 11, 2011, Deadline is reporting. The best-selling author reportedly pitched the novel to the studio’s executives himself. The news of the acquisition comes after Relativity Media recently picked up the rights to another one of Sparks’ novels, ‘Safe Haven’, which is expected to begin filming later this year.

‘The Best of Me’ follows former high school sweethearts, who come from opposite sides of the tracks in their small hometown. While the two don’t meet again until they return home for a funeral, neither one has forgotten their first love. As the two reunite and reminisce about their past, they ponder if they have a future together. Denise DiNovi will produce the film version of ‘The Best of Me’ with Sparks and his literary agent, Theresa Park.
