The film “Real Steel” is due to come out this October, but while the film boasts the latest 3D technology to create the fighting robots, Los Angeles-based artist Christian Ristow makes machines that can be viewed in real life.

Ristow’s art includes moving sculptures and robots He describes his moving sculptures and robot performances as “a provocative mix of post-apocalyptic mayhem and playful iconoclasm” and has had his work featured in LA Magazine, LA Weekly and the Discovery Channel’s “Robots Rising”. He has also done animatronic work for various Hollywood movies. Ristow was also recently inducted into Jeremiah Weed’s campaign “BadAsses”, a group of men who embody the “badass” feeling of doing whatever they want to do.

Also, if this ends up making you pumped to see “Real Steel”, the film will come to theaters October 7. And if that isn’t enough, “Real Steel 2” is scheduled to be out sometime in 2014.

“Real Steel”, directed by Shawn Levy and starring Hugh Jackman, Kevin Durand, Evangeline Lily, and Anthony Mackie, involves a man (Jackman) living in the near-future where huge robots fight in the boxing ring.
