Story Of The Chilean Miners To Become A Film

The heroic and inspiring story of the 33 Chilean miners who were rescued after surviving 69 days in a collapsed Copiapó mine in the fall of 2010 will become a film, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The rights to the story were acquired by Mike Medavoy and Oscar-nominated screenwriter Jose Rivera will be responsible for the script. Medavoy and his vice president Edward McGurn at Phoenix Pictures will produce the film through Medavoy’s Half Circle banner. The executive producers of the film will be Medavoy’s friend Carlos Eugenio Lavín and associate Leopold Enriquez. “Like millions of people around the world, I was completely engrossed in watching the rescue at Copiapó,”…

Fans of “The Nutcracker” may be interested in this bit of news; according to The Hollywood Reporter, a live-action film based on “The Nutcracker” will be in the works soon. According to the article, the film, titled “The Nutcracker,” will be about a 12-year-old girl, who, along with her brother and sister, receive Christmas presents from their eccentric clockmaker-inventor godfather. One of the toys, the Nutcracker, becomes part of an adventure the girl has as the Nutcracker battles the seven-headed Mouse King. The movie will have themes of beauty and ugliness. 20th Century Fox is close to finalizing a deal to obtain the screen rights for the book “ESPN: Those Guys Have All The Fun” by James Andrew Miller and Tom Shales, Deadline is reporting. The studio wants to develop a movie about the 24-hour sports network’s formation. The film will feature past and present ESPN personalities and producers to chronicle the story of how a father and son maxed out their credit cards to reserve a satellite transponder so they could broadcast sporting events non-stop. Alexandre Aja To Produce TV Series Based On Scanners

According to Deadline, the 1981 David Cronenberg film “Scanners” will now become a television show. Alexandre Aja, the writer-director behind the horror remake “The Hills Have Eyes,” will be the producer behind the Dimension television show.
