I don’t think anyone is really itching for there to be a sequel to “The Smurfs,” but since the movie did so surprisingly well monetarily, even getting close to beating blockbuster “Cowboys & Aliens” and making $135 million throughout its run thus far, talk of a sequel was sure to follow.

According to Filmonic and Deadline, the film will have a sequel for August 2, 2013. Who knows what the story will be.

I suppose even though the film was panned by nearly every critic, it is saying something when these weird blue creatures can take on Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford and almost best them one of the things they do best, which is put butts in seats.

“The Smurfs” stars Neil Patrick Harris, Jayma Mays, Hank Azaria, Jonathan Winters, Katy Perry, Kenan Thompson, Sofia Vergara, Tim Gunn, George Lopez, Fred Armisen, Anton Yelchin, Jeff Foxworthy, John Oliver, Wolfgang Puck, Gary Basaraba, Paul Reubens, B.J. Novak, Tom Kane, John Kassir and Frank Welker and involves the Smurfs trying to escape Gargamel (Azaria) as he chases them from their mythical village to the real world–New York City.

I know the answer to the question for most people is “No,” but would you be interested in seeing a sequel to “The Smurfs”? Are you one of the few people who liked the film? Give us your opinions in the comments section below.
