“The Help” has officially come in second in the box office race, behind the still-number one movie in America, “Rise of the Planet of the Apes.” Personally, from what I’ve read and researched on this film, “The Help” seems to either rub people the wrong way, such as black women historians and people who aren’t interested in having their comedy mixed in with 1960s race relations, or inspire and entertain audiences who are eager to see characters who are played expertly well and remind them of family members, friends, or people from their childhoods.

The critical rating of the film on Rotten Tomatoes is 73%, while the audience rating is an impressive 93%. And the monetary success of the film is due not only to the film’s already built-in fanbase (the film is based on a book by Kathryn Stockett), but also the promotion done on The Food Network’s “Paula’s Best Dishes” and HSN’s “The Help” event.

What do you, the viewing public, think about “The Help”? Do you love it or do you hate it? How does the comedy (which seems to be the polarizing factor of this film) strike you? Make your opinions known about “The Help” in the comments section below.
