Seasoned star Matthew McConaughey has now joined the likes of both Channing Tatum and I Am Number Four’s Alex Pettyfer in director Steven Soderbergh’s stripper flick ‘Magic Mike’. Confirmed by Variety, McConaughey is ready to take on the role of “Dallas, a former exotic dancer who now owns and operates Xquisite, the club where ‘Magic Mike’ works.” Meanwhile, Tatum will play an experienced stripper who shows Pettyfer’s character the ropes. Other rumored cast members include Demi Moore, Shiloh Fernandez, and Kayden Kessler.

‘Magic Mike’ is loosely based on Tatum’s real life beginnings as a dancer at the age of 19, before he landed in the Hollywood spotlight. It’s also a film that Steven Soderbergh is rumored to have decided to take on before his planned hiatus (or possible retirement) from the world of directing. The script was written by Reid Carolin (Earth Made of Glass), who is also on board as a producer with Channing, Nick Wechsler, and Gregory Jacobs.

Matthew McConaughey is also attached to appear in the 2011 flick ‘Bernie’ with Jack Black, Mud with Reese Witherspoon, and ‘Killer Joe’. He is currently in the middle of filming the upcoming picture ‘The Paperboy’, a movie from Lee Daniels that follows “a reporter returns to his Florida hometown to investigate a case involving a death row inmate.” Zac Efron and Nicole Kidman co-star alongside McConaughey.
