Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith are denying the rumors that they’re separated and heading for a divorce, the New York Daily News is reporting. The couple has released a joint statement through Smith’s publicist, saying “Although we are reluctant to respond to those types of press reports, the rumors circulating about our relationship are completely false. We are still together, and our marriage is intact.”

The separation reports come weeks after their friends, Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez, announced their own separation. Pinkett Smith and Anthony star as love interests on the TNT medical drama ‘HawthoRNe.’ Her publicist, Karynne Tencer, denied the cheating rumors, saying they’re completely false.

The Smiths met in 1990 when Pinkett Smith auditioned for the role of the girlfriend of Smith’s title character on his hit NBC sitcom ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.’ She didn’t get the role, but the two became friends, and married on New Year’s Eve 1997. They have two children together, 13-year-old actor son Jaden, and 10-year-old singer daughter Willow.

The separation reports come after the couple denied rumors that they have an open marriage. But Pinkett Smith did reveal to Uptown Magazine in June 2011 that she does enjoy time alone. “It’s always nice to have a little time apart. Sometimes you need that,” she said.
