UK directing-writing duo DarkFibre has launched its film campaign for its on-line short ‘Unwatchable,’ which chronicles the atrocities being committed in the Congo over blood minerals. The short highlights the link between the minerals imported from the Congo that are not only used in electronics, but also in conjunction with weapons of war in the country.

‘Unwatchable’ also shows the crimes committed by armed gangs in the Congo. The short follows a Congoleseoman, Masika, whose family is brutalized by armed militia. But the short changes the setting from Central Africa to rural England, to show that violence can happen anywhere.

DarkFibre, which is made up of husband and wife Ishbel Whitaker and Marc Hawker, is hoping to launch a new campaign to alert the public how many Congolese are raped and murdered every day. ‘Unwatchable’ can be viewed on its official website.
