CBS has picked up Rob Schneider’s family comedy as a mid-season series replacement, Deadline is reporting. The untitled series, which didn’t make the cut for the Fall 2011 prime-time schedule, will include eight episodes. The network liked the comedy enough to order a revamped second pilot that featured major casting changes and several backup scripts. The multi-camera series, which is Schneider co-wrote with Lew Morton, is based on the actor’s real-life experiences. Schneider will star as Rob, who just married into a close Mexican-American family. Claudia Bassols will play his wife, Maggie, while Diana Maria Riva will portray his mother-in-law, Rosa. Both roles were recast from the original pilot. While…

In honor of Google’s 13th birthday, the search engine has replaced its official logo on its homepage with a birthday party scene. The Google logo is surrounded by multi-colored balloons and streamers, and is fitted with party hats. It’s seated behind a table filled with wrapped presents and a large white birthday cake, which is topped with 13 candles. When the doddle is clicked, more information about the launch of Google is loaded. The search engine was created by Larry Page and Sergey Brin, two Stanford University graduate students. Former ‘L-Word’ actress Leisha Hailey is claiming that Southwest Airlines hates gay people, and that’s the reason she and her girlfriend were kicked off a flight, TMZ is reporting. After being kicked off the plane, Hailey tweeted that she and her girlfriend weren’t allowed to fly because they were kissing, and Southwest is a family airline. The actress is now demanding a public apology from Southwest. Hailey is also asking her fans to boycott the airline for its homophobic policies, adding that “They don’t like us.” Immediately after the incident, a representative for the airline tweeted Hailey back with a quick apology, and asking her to contact the company privately…

Los Angeles-based band The Dreaming, which features former members of Stabbing Westward, Murderdolls, Living Dead Lights, has inked a deal with Epochal Artists Records. The group’s new album, “Puppet”, will be released on November 1. A single, “Every Trace”, is impacting radio now and already lighting up phone lines on stations like KUPD in Phoenix, KXXR in Minneapolis, WIIL in Chicago and WAQX in Syracuse.
