Eddie Cibrian was injured during the evening of October 4 while filming on the Chicago set of NBC’s ‘The Playboy Club,’ the Chicago Sun-Times is reporting. The 38-year-old actor suffered a deep gash on his right heel after it was caught under a 200 pound steel door. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Cibrian was filming scenes as his character, male lead Nick Dalton, a lawyer and Playboy Club keyholder, at the 2558 West 16th West Side studio. No further details on the actor’s injuries have been released.

While NBC announced it canceled the period drama series earlier that day, after the third episode pulled in 3.5 million viewers the night before, the network was still filming scenes for the show. Even though ‘The Playboy Club’ premiered to poor reviews and lukewarm ratings on September 20, which only decreased in the following weeks, the production company plans to continue filming until October 10. It hopes to eventually shop the show to another network.

Playboy founder Hugh Hefner has said he’s saddened over the cancellation of ‘The Playboy Club.’ But if the show doesn’t find another home on television, he also said that studios have expressed interest in making a film based on the series.
