‘Eat Pray Love’ actor Javier Bardem has officially announced that he has been cast as the new villain in the upcoming James Bond movie. Bardem told ABC TV that although he can’t reveal much about his role opposite lead star Daniel Craig, he is definitely on board the 23rd film of the notorious double 007 franchise. “I am very excited my parents took me to watch the movies and I saw all of them so to play that is going to be fun. They chose me to play this man, but I cannot give many details.”
Back in February the actor also dished a few minor details of what’s to come. “They’re changing the whole thing, the whole dynamic. I’d be playing Bond’s nemesis, yes, but it’s not that obvious. Everything is more nuanced. It’s very intriguing.” Bardem joins the rumored cast of actress Berenice Marlohe, as the next Bond girl, Naomie Harris and Ralph Fiennes. The upcoming Bond flick will be directed by Sam Mendes (Revolutionary Road , Away We Go) and is set for release in November 2012.
Bardem is currently attached to an Untitled Terrence Malick Project as Father Quintana. He has previously starred in Vicky Cristina Barcelona, No Country for Old Men, and Before Night Falls.
