I think people were groaning when they first heard that the “Shrek” lore would continue with the addition of a spinoff film about Puss in Boots (Antonio Banderas). I was groaning too. However, I forgot that Puss in Boots is one of the better characters out of the “Shrek” series. Still, I wasn’t sure if he could hold his own in a movie. I was wrong, and I’m sure a lot of other people out there are eating crow (perhaps brought to them by a cat who was “hunting”) along with me.

The critics and audience alike love “Puss in Boots,” which received an 82% from both critics and regular laypeople, according to Rotten Tomatoes. Even critic Michael O’Sullivan from The Washington Post said the film is “[a]lmost shockingly good. And not just because a lot of you will approach it with lowered expectations.” Also, Dan Lybarger from KC Active said “[i]t’s a given that any movie featuring the fencing feline is probably going to be more entertaining than the last two Shrek movies.”

If you’ve seen the movie, what did you think? Did you think it was going to be a success from the very first article about a “Puss in Boots” movie being in production? Give your opinions below.
