Holly Robinson Peete is stating that she was shocked when CBS decided not to renew her and co-host Leah Remini’s contracts for the current second season of its talk show ‘The Talk,’ AOL TV is reporting. Peete said she was kept in the dark for months that she wasn’t going to be asked back for another season, while rumors circulated that other actresses were going to take to take her place. Peete added that CBS executives never explained to her why her contract wasn’t being renewed. Comedian Sheryl Underwood has since filled Peete’s place, and Aisha Tyler will be replacing Remini.

Peete also said she feels the show has drifted from its original concept. “I feel bad for (show creator and co-host Sara) Gilbert, because I think about her original concept for the show….the two ladies they brought on are fantastic…but they’re not moms. So, I guess they abandoned the whole mom brand. That was (Sara’s) initial concept.”
