Not all Christmas films are bright and cheery. Some of them are dark, slightly macabre, or just plain oddball. Here are the top 10 cult Christmas films, as chosen by ShockYa. In this list, you’ll see films that involve murder, skeletons, ghosts, terrorists, DC Comic book characters and men with tools for hands, all revolving around that age-old holiday of good will and cheer.

1. “Edward Scissorhands” (1990): This Tim Burton classic stars Johnny Depp as the lovable misfit “human” creation (is he a cyborg? A Frankenstein-esque creature?) with scissors for hands due to his creator dying unexpectedly before completing him. When he’s taken in by a kindly Avon saleswoman (Dianne Wiest), he falls in love with her daughter (Wynona Rider) and also realizes humanity’s more savage nature in the form of neighborhood bullies.
