In its first programming news of 2012, MTV has announced its infamous prank show ‘Punk’d’ will return on Monday, March 19, with bigger, better laughs and surprises, CinemaBlend is reporting. The revival of the celebrity prank show, much like the original ‘Punk’d,’ will feature stars pranking other celebrities while hidden cameras capture their reactions.

One of the biggest questions about the return of the series is who will replace original host Ashton Kutcher. MTV announced during its ‘New Year’s Eve in New York City’ broadcast with hosts Demi Lovato and ‘Teen Wolf’ star Tyler Poisey that a new celebrity will host the show each week. Among the celebrity guest hosts are Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Kellan Lutz, Bam Margera and Dax Shepard, who started his career as an actor on the original ‘Punk’d.’ The revival of the pranking show, which is executive produced by Katalyst’s Jason Goldberg and Kutcher, will also for the first time show viewers what goes on behind-the-scenes.

Of the new edition of ‘Punk’d,’ Van Toffler, the President of MTVN Music Group, LOGO and Film, said “What better way to ring in the New Year than to let our audience know that (Ashton) and MTV are bringing back ‘Punk’d’ in a big way. There’s a new generation of unsuspecting suckers just waiting to be Punk’d by their famous friends.”
