One small step for Chronicle, one giant leap for technology. Or maybe it should be the reverse?

Anyway, we’ve got history in the making at the NFC Wild-Card Game. When the Atlanta Falcons duke it out with the New York Giants this Sunday, the upcoming release Chronicle will take center stage for five seconds, when a QR code appears on the billboard. Take your phone, scan the code and you’ll get a look at some exclusive footage from the film.

Not a football fan? Won’t be around for the game? Don’t worry; you’ve still got two options to join in – either DVR the game to get the code or check our Chronicle’s Facebook page. But, of course, wouldn’t you rather see the first-ever motion picture-themed QR-coded billboard live?

If it was for any other movie, maybe not, but there’s something about Chronicle that caught my attention right from the start and has continued to hold strong straight through its marketing campaign. The film focuses on a trio of high school buddies who wind up acquiring supernatural powers. It’s all fun and games until they lose control and their darker sides step in.

Check out the trailer for Chronicle below and catch the QR code during the NFC Wild-Card Game this Sunday at 1:00pm EST.
