Actress Mariska Hargitay says that she’s staying on as the star of ‘Law and Order: SVU’, and is set to appear in the crime drama’s fourteenth season. Hargitay, who previously looked to be moving on, made the big announcement in a taped message for fans and the media that was released at the Television Critics Association winter press tour. “I’ll be back. I can’t leave this show,” Hargitay said. “I’m having too much fun.” Hargitay’s character Olivia Benson is also getting a new love interest this coming season.
It has been announced that Harry Connick Jr. has signed on to guest star in a multi-episode arc as Executive ADA David Haden. Set to appear in the upcoming January 18th episode, Connick’s alter ego has been described by Deadbolt as “a dedicated, straight-shooting prosecutor who is assigned a case with Detective Benson.” After losing her sidekick Chris Meloni, Hargitay called the singer’s casting a “home run on so many levels. The show is very fortunate to have Harry’s extraordinary talent, and I’m lucky because I get to work with my friend. I think Olivia couldn’t have asked for a better companion to take her through a new stage in her life and career.”
