“Pan Am” is back in full swing! If you’ve been keeping up with the ABC series, you’ll know that we left off with a bang, literally, with Kate killing the enemy spy.

The new episode that kicked off the second half of the first season, “Secrets & Lies,” picks up where “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang” left off, with Kate facing the repercussions of her actions, which involves passing a lie detector test while lying. However, Kate’s conscience isn’t leaving her alone when it comes to what she’s done. For a while, it seems hit-or-miss as to whether she’ll survive the polygraph test, but she manages to complete the test, saving herself and the other spies that were compromised due to her. Her reward for completing the polygraph test–freedom from being national intelligence. However, when it she finally is free, she realizes that being a spy is really what she wants to do, after all.

Meanwhile, Maggie is dealing with problems of her own. She is falling for Congressman Rawlings, even though she and the congressman have wildly different opinions on politics. She struggles with this, especially since she’s written a newspaper article on Rawling’s policies that is headed straight to the presses.

Laura is also dealing with her contrary feelings. She doesn’t completely respect Ted (probably because he’s a pig), yet she feels attracted to him. (What happened to military man Joe? I thought she was in love with him!) Ted comes to Laura for advice on how to approach Amanda, a girl he’s grown up with and is now falling in love with. Laura basically tells him not to act like a pig and that some girls do like waiting until marriage for intimacy, but she says she’s not one of them. Later on, after Ted has successfully wooed Amanda and realizes that a relationship is not all about sex, he decides to pop the big question. He asks for Laura’s help again on how to approach the question, something Laura doesn’t look too happy about.

Lastly, the biggest bombshell in this episode is the fact that Bridget has returned, much to the surprise and dismay of Dean and Colette, who are now in a relationship. Colette can see the writing on the wall and frees Dean from their relationship, stating that he’s still in love with Bridget and should hear out her reasons for returning. Bridget does tell Dean about her spy past, and, realizing that he still is in love with her, stays with her.

A lot of tension and heartbreak in this episode! What did you think? Give your opinions in the comments section below.
