Most people remember the Italian children’s story “Pinocchio” as a 1940s Disney movie. However, the popular story is about to have a facelift due to two different “Pinocchio” films. One of them will be an animated film helmed by Guillermo del Toro, and the other, which might have Tim Burton at the helm if everything goes well, is courting Iron Man himself, Robert Downey, Jr.

According to The Daily Blam and The Hollywood Reporter, Downey is highly interested in playing Geppetto for the film. According to the Reporter, Downey has “expressed serious interest in the project and in working with Burton, but his busy schedule must still be worked out.” Also, Burton has expressed interest in directing the film, and if he doesn’t choose another project, like “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children,” sources have said that he will direct “Pinocchio.” If these two people come together to make this film, it’s bound to be interesting.

What do you think of having Downey as Geppetto and Tim Burton as the director of the film? And do you think the potential casting and directing choices say anything about what the film might be like, especially since the film’s plot hasn’t been released yet?
