Have you had enough awards season nomination and winner lists yet? Well, tough because the Alliance of Women Film Journalists just announced their picks for best of the year and not only am I a proud member of the organization, but it’s packed with many notable and admirable female journalists. Plus AWFJ also gives honors in a number of fun and unique categories that you won’t find anywhere else.

Not only did The Artist snag the top honor, Best Film, but Best Director and the Unforgettable Moment Award for the sound of the glass clinking on the table, too. The Help earned two honors, Best Actress for Viola Davis’ performance and Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Octavia Spencer’s performance while Bridesmaids also took two, Best Ensemble Cast and Best Woman Screenwriter for Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo’s work.

There were actually quite a few ties this time around, Spencer sharing her Actress in a Supporting Role honor with Albert Nobbs’ Janet McTeer, The Descendants and Moneyball splitting the win for Best Adapted Screenplay and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Hanna sharing the Best Film or Score award. In the EDA Female Focus Awards section, both Rooney Mara and Saoirse Ronan were given the Kick Ass Award for Best Female Action Star honor.

And that’s only scratching the surface of the 2011 AWFJ Awards. Click here to check out the full list of winners.
