FilmBuff is proud to present “After Fall, Winter,” a film written and directed by Eric Schaeffer and starring Schaeffer and Lizzie Brochere.

“After Fall, Winter” will make its theatrical debut at the Quad Cinema Jan. 27, and the film will also be available at YouTube, Amazon, Xbox, Yudu, iTunes and on demand Jan. 31 at FilmBuff.

Here’s the synopsis of the film:

“Once a successful novelist, now hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt and full of self-loathing, MICHAEL SHIVER is invited by an old friend to leave New York and spend the winter in Paris where he might gain new perspective on his life. Soon after he arrives he meets the luminous, self-possessed, SOPHIE, a young, compassionate hospice nurse living nearby in the Montmartre. Their chemistry is instantaneous. Both desperately want intimacy and ache for the love story that will change their lives. But Michael and Sophie fear attachment and each hides dangerous secrets behind wit and repartee.

With what will eventually emerge as a deep irony, they begin to build the terms of their relationship in the same way a client would lay out the rules of engagement with a dominatrix-based on absolute honesty about what they need and what they will not tolerate. The closer they get to one another the more their fragile trust is threatened by what they won’t reveal, until, with tragic inevitability, their love story hits the wall of truth. In AFTER FALL, WINTER, the second in a planned quartet of films, each 15 years apart (Fall, MGM 1997), director Eric Schaeffer has created a mature and wrenching Liebestod for our times.”
