The first official photo from the upcoming supernatural thriller ’7500,’ directed by ‘The Grudge’ filmmaker Takashi Shimizu, has been released. The picture features star Ryan Kwanten, who plays Brad Martin, on a plane, surrounded by Jerry Ferrara (third from right), Nicky Whelan (second from right), Scout Taylor-Compton (right) and Amy Smart (left), who plays Brad’s wife, Pia.

The ‘True Blood’ actor described ’7500,’ which is set to be released on August 31, 2012, to Entertainment Weekly as “a hunted house movie on an airplane. I play a character who is having a very rough time in his marriage. It’s on the rocks and they’re in the last weeks really.” Martin and Pia only take the trip to Tokyo because “their best friends prepaid for these tickets. They’re doing it as a favor.”

While the passengers are on a flight from L.A. to Tokyo, they encounter something more sinister than turbulence on the trans-Pacific trip. The bizarre occurrences overtake the flight, and Kwanten said “the passengers must choose to (either) band together or become loose cannons and start looking out for themselves. It’s a survival-of-the-fittest type thing.”

Kwanten added that he doesn’t want to give too much of the plot away, but hinted that painful moments from the characters’ pasts will manifest themselves on the plane. “We deal with our problems and conflicts of the past and try to find a way to overcome that,” the actor added.
