‘J. Edgar’ actor Armie Hammer was arrested for possession of marijuana in West Texas, the Huffington Post is reporting. A drug-sniffing dog discovered 0.02 ounces of the drug, three medicinal marijuana cookies and one brownie in his car when he was stopped at a border patrol checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, a few miles from the Mexican border.

The actor, who rose to fame in ‘The Social Network,’ spent about a day in jail after being arrested on November 20, 2011. Hammer was then released on $1,000 bond. The El Paso district attorney declined to prosecute, as a felony requires more than 4 ounces of actual marijuana. However, the country attorney could pursue lesser charges when the case is brought back to the local sheriff. However, the 25-year-old actor’s lawyer, Kent Schaffer, said no charges have been filed yet.

The star of the upcoming ‘Mirror Mirror’ is just one of several celebrities and thousands of people who are arrested for possession outside the sparsely populated town. Willie Nelson and Snoop Dogg have also been caught with marijuana in Sierra Blanca, in 2010 and earlier this month, respectively. The town has also risen in notoriety, as Steven Seagal has signed on to become a county officer in the town. He will film his A&E reality show ‘Steven Seagal Lawman’ in Sierra Blanca, as well.
