In this latest episode of “Once Upon a Time,” we learn more about Sidney Glass, the newspaper reporter that has now lost his job due to Regina.

In an effort to reclaim his lost glory, he ensares Emma in his plan to expose Regina for the crook that she is. At first Emma doesn’t want to go along with Sidney, who wants to expose Regina at any cost. Emma wants to do it, but she wants to do it the right and honorable way. However, when Henry’s storybook gets stolen, he and Emma’s secret place–an old playground–gets torn down, and Sidney reveals that Regina had him follow Emma and Henry to their secret meeting place, Emma loses her self control and goes about taking down Regina the dirty way.

Both of them find out that Regina’s been taking the city’s funds to build a house. They expose her at the city council meeting, and Regina agrees with them, but, Regina points out that she’s just building any house. She’s building a playhouse for the children of Storybrooke. This foiled plot makes Emma and Sidney look like fools, and also allows Regina to have full leverage over Emma. She tells Emma that she can’t see Henry any more unless she’ll press charges and get a restraining order. Sidney and Emma are now allies in their plan to destroy Regina. Or are they? We later find out that Sidney’s been in cahoots with Regina all along.

While the main plot was unfolding, we find that Mary Margaret and David are having secret rendezvous. Even though they are destined to be together, I don’t think anything good will come of them having an affair. And our mysterious writer guy has stolen Henry’s precious storybook. Who is this guy?

In Fairytale Land, King Leopold finds a genie and frees him from his imprisonment using one of the three wishes. With the second wish, the king wishes for the third wish to be given to the genie to use. In his wisdom, the genie thanks King Leopold for the wish, but he states that nothing good ever comes of wishes, so he vows to never use it.

We also get to see what life was like for the Evil Queen when she was married to King Leopold, the father of Snow White. She feels like she’s trapped and unloved, the King’s daughter and his late wife being the true center of his life. She falls in love with the genie. Well, I guess I should say that the Genie falls in love with her, but we do see that she forces her own emotions down in the episode. Anyway, the genie feels moved to free her from her prison. So does her father, who brings the genie a box of poisonous snakes, snakes that are specifically from the area the genie hails from. The genie uses the snakes to kill the king, only to find out that the Evil Queen had planned the death from the very beginning and intended to use the genie as the scapegoat. However, she doesn’t account for the fact that the genie wants to stay with her. He uses his wish to stay with her for all time. His wish is granted in the worst way–he becomes trapped in his mirror!

The plot thickens!
