Emmy Rossum In Negotiations to Join Beautiful Creature

Emmy Rossum is in final negotiations to join the film adaptation of ‘Beautiful Creatures,’ Collider is reporting. The supernatural love story follows two star-crossed teens who uncover dark secrets about their families and their town. The ‘Shameless’ actress will star as the girl’s cousin who became a dark witch on her 16th birthday, turning the girls into enemies.

‘Beautiful Creatures’ is the first book in Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl’s three-book series. ‘P.S. I love You’ helmer Richard LaGravenese is set to direct the film, which Warner Bros. hopes to use to launch a franchise.

The book follows the young girl, Lena Duchannes, who is unlike anyone who the small Southern town of Gatlin has ever seen. She’s struggling to conceal her power and a curse that has plagued her family for generations. But her secret isn’t destined to remain hidden forever in Gatlin.

The young boy, Ethan Wate, has been looking forward to the day when he can leave Gatlin. However, he’s haunted by dreams of a beautiful girl he’s never met. Lena then moves into the town’s oldest and most infamous platation, and Ethan is inexplicably drawn to her. He sets out to uncover the connection between them.
