The cinematography in the “Batman” series has been impeccable, as well as the cinematography in “Inception” and “Moneyball.” The man behind that impeccable level of cinematography, Wally Pfister, is now going to put his skills to the test as a director.

According to ScreenRant via Deadline, his directorial debut will be a currently untitled screenplay by new writer Jack Paglen, based on a treatment by Annie Marter, a production assistant on films like “Girl, Interrupted” and “The Door in the Floor.” The film’s principal photography is expected to begin this fall.

There’s no concrete word on what the film’s synopsis is, but it is assumed, according to ScreenRant, that the film will be a “low-key drama.” You can read more about this at ScreenRant and Deadline.

“The Dark Knight Rises,” which also stars Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Anne Hathaway, will be in theaters July 20. The film will be the final part of the three-part “Batman” movie series, in which Batman (Bale) has to battle juggernaut Bane (Hardy), while dealing with the sometimes heroine/villian Catwoman (Hathaway).
