There’s news of a new boxing film! For those who like a good underdog sports story, the upcoming film, “The Challenger,” boasts a very intriguing cast, including Michael Clarke Duncan and S. Epatha Merkerson, two actors who have just recently signed onto the film.

Academy, Golden Globes and Screen Actors Guild award nominee Duncan and Golden Globes, Emmy and Screen Actors Guild award winner Merkerson have joined the rest of the cast, which includes Justin Hartley, Ernie Sabella and Lindsay Hartley and Kent Moran who has also written the screenplay and will direct the film. Moran’s production company, Wishing Well Pictures, will produce “The Challenger,” which began filming this month in New York City.

The official synopsis of “The Challenger” is:

“When he and his adopted mother are evicted from their home, struggling Bronx auto mechanic Jaden Miller (Kent Moran) is forced back into the one thing he’s run from his entire life: fighting. With the help of a legendary trainer (Michael Clarke Duncan), Miller will do everything in his power to save his family from living on the streets.”
