You would think that hoaxes would be gone by now since we’re getting close to the release date of “The Dark Knight Rises.” I guess for some, July 20 is still a long way away.

ScreenRant via MTV initially reported on the rough cut of “The Dark Knight”‘s lengthy running time. According to the site, the running time was a whopping four hours. According to MTV, “…’The Dark Knight Rises’ is real and finished, presumably in the form of a four-hour rough cut. There’s no official word on the reaction to the rough-cut screening, as of yet.” Supposedly, this was supposed to be a joke on MTV’s part.

Sadly, that number was reported as false. Well, perhaps it’s not so sad, since if the film was four hours, it’d need some super-serious cutting. I love Batman, but I’m not about to sit in a theater for four hours watching him.

You can learn more about the hoax at ScreenRant and MTV.

“The Dark Knight Rises,” directed by Christopher Nolan, follows Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) as he puts the cowl back on to save Gotham from the likes of Bane (Tom Hardy) and to battle the wily ways of Selina Kyle/Catwoman (Anne Hathaway).
