Casting and production on the highly anticipated ‘Cybergeddon’ film are set to begin, with distribution company Dolphin Digital Media financing the film that will bring the growing threat of cybercrime to life. The announcement comes from Anthony E. Zuiker, the creator of the ‘CSI’ franchise and his production company Dare to Pass, as well as Yahoo! Inc.

Zuiker described ‘Cybergeddon,’ which will be launching globally as a series of installments on Yahoo!, as “the evolution of the crime genre.” He added that the film will premiere online, instead of in theaters, in order to play on “50 million online screens all over the world at the same time.”

Erin McPherson, the vice president and head of video at Yahoo!, said “we’re thrilled to bring a concept like ‘Cybergeddon’ to our audience.” She added that Zuiker “is one of the most prolific and successful storytellers in Hollywood…together we have the opportunity to bring this compelling and cutting-edge story exclusively to our users.”
