From the commercials alone, “Mirror Mirror” looked like it was going to be bad, which is disapointing, because when I saw the press pictures way before the film was released, I thought it was going to be really good. However, when Tarsem Singh is directing a film, you already know it’s going to be gorgeous; it’s the story that you really have to worry about.

According to Rotten Tomatoes, “Mirror Mirror,” starring Julia Roberts and Lily Collins, has a terrible 49% rating. The audience hasn’t been much kinder, giving it a 53%.

The critics felt that the jokes and story were flat, something the awesome costuming just couldn’t make up for. According to the site, the critical consensus is:

“Like most of Tarsem Singh’s films, ‘Mirror Mirror’ is undeniably beautiful — but its treatment of the age-old Snow White fable lacks enough depth or originality to set it apart from the countless other adaptations of the tale”

However, just because the critics hated it doesn’t mean you have to. What do you think? If you saw it and liked it, what did you like about it? If you hated the film, did you hate it for different reasons than the ones stated above? Give your opinions in the comments section below.
