Morgan Freeman is insisting that he has never had a romantic relationship with his 27-year-old step-granddaughter E’Dina Hines, and says all of the reports claiming otherwise are defamatory fabrications, TMZ is reporting. The Academy Award-winning actor released a statement to deny the recent reports that he and Hines have been dating for almost 10 years, and they plan on getting married.
Freeman’s rep said the ‘Dark Knight Rises’ actor has remained silent for years because he didn’t want to dignify the rumors by commenting. But he now feels compelled to respond after the reports were run in mainstream media outlets.
In Freeman’s statement, he said “The recent reports of any pending marriage or romantic relationship of me to anyone are defamatory fabrications from the tabloid media designed to sell papers. What is even more alarming is that these fabrications are now being picked up by the legitimate press as well.”
Hines, the granddaughter of Freeman’s first wife, Jeanette Adair Bradshaw, has also released a statement. She said “These stories about me and my grandfather are not only untrue, they are also hurtful to me and my family.”
