Josh Gad is currently working on a deal to be cast as Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak in the upcoming independent biopic about Steve Jobs, Cinema Blend is reporting. The news of the possible ‘Book of Mormon’ star’s casting as Wozniak in the Joshua Michael Stern-directed film, ‘Jobs,’ comes after Ashton Kutcher signed on to star as the Apple creator.

Wozniak is known for creating the Apple company with Jobs in the mid-1970s. Wozniak created the Apple 1 computer and co-created the Apple II computer in the ’70s.

Gad has garnered fame recently for appearing in ‘Love and Other Drugs’ and having a voice role in the upcoming ‘Ice Age: Continental Drift.’ He also has a starring role in the NBC comedy pilot ‘1600 Penn,’ co-starring Bill Pullman and Jenna Elfman.

Gad is most well-known, however, for his starring role in the original cast of the Broadway musical ‘The Book of Mormon.’ He was nominated for a Tony for playing the goofy but determined and well-meaning Arnold Cunningham in the play.

‘Jobs,’ which is scheduled to begin production this month, was written by Matt Whiteley. The film garnered attention when it was announced Kutcher was cast as Jobs, since he’s more well-known for his comedic roles. But one of the film’s producer, Mark Hulmer, said the actor has what it takes to carry the role’s psychological complexity.’
