Comedian and actor Martin Lawrence is moving forward with his divorce from his wife of two years, Shamicka Lawrence, after releasing the news that they plan to separate just weeks ago. After announcing their plans to separate both Lawrence and Shamicka issued a statement. “Out of love and respect for one another we will continue to remain friends and raise our two beautiful daughters together.” The forty seven year old Lawrence filed papers in Los Angeles Superior Court this past April 25th citing “irreconcilable differences” as the cause of their split. Lawrence also cited April 24th as the day of their official separation.
The couple were together for 15 years before deciding to get married in July 2010 at their home in Beverly Hills, California. They share an eleven year old daughter named Lyana, and a nine-year old daughter named Amara Trinity. When Martin filed for divorce he also requested that the assets be divided under the terms of their prenuptial agreement, as well as the request that he and his soon to be ex-wife share joint physical custody of the children. He has since hired Beverly Hills divorce attorney Lance Spiegel, who previously helped Michael Jackson, Heather Locklear, Charlie Sheen and Russell Simmons.
