The red band trailer of “The Dictator” has been released, suggesting that there’s more to the R-rated film than just PG-13 jokes that have been put in the trailers. Check it out below the post and see what you think.

“The Dictator” stars Sacha Baron Cohen as Admiral General Aladeen, a buffoonish caricature of dictators such as Moammar Gadhafi. Admiral General Aladeen comes to New York City as a leader of his country, and through a crazy series of events, he is stripped of his medals and beard and forced to work as a commoner. During his time as a regular Joe, he meets a mousy organic food store owner (Anna Faris) and, of course, hijinks (and even romance) ensue from there. According to The Huffington Post, “The Dictator” is based on the book “Zabibah and the King,” which is about a benevolent king. Strangely enough, the book was written by Saddam Hussein himself.

“The Dictator,” also starring Ben Kingsley, will be in theaters May 16.

What do you think about “The Dictator”? Does the red band trailer hold up to your expectations? And did you know Hussein was an author? Tell us your opinions about the film in the comments section below.
