Phillip Phillips, the newly-named winner of the 11th season of ‘American Idol,’ will finally undergo urgent kidney surgery, TMZ is reporting. The singer will have the surgery next week, after his doctors previously ordered him to undergo the procedure to fix his severe kidney stones.
Phillips refused to get the surgery earlier, as he insisted on finishing the season of ‘American Idol.’ But now that he’s won the competition, he’s planning on getting the surgery done in Los Angeles, and his parents will fly in to support him. He’s expected to spend several days in the hospital after the surgery, and will have a six-week recovery period.
