Anne Hathaway’s ex-boyfriend, Raffaello Follieri, was released from federal prison yesterday in Pennsylvania, TMZ is reporting. The real estate developer has also been deported from America, and was immediately sent back to his native Italy.
Follieri, who dated the Academy Award-nominated actress between 2004 and 2008, pled guilty to conspiracy, wire fraud and money laundering in 2008, and has been in jail since. He took millions of dollars from investors in an American church-buying scheme.
A representative from US Immigration and Customs Enforcement confirmed the news of Follieri’s deportation. The rep said the law enforcement agency “carried out the order of an immigration judge, and removed Follieri from the United States May 25, 2012.”
